New Wave in Conceptual Art is coming to Venice Biennale this year from Russia. Venice Biennale, the Olympics of the art world, is hosting The Russian Pavilion with the installation “Empty Zones” by Andrei Monastyrsky and his art group Collective Actions, pioneers of Russian performance and installation art. “Social and political engagement is the most important part of Moscow Conceptual Art,” said Andrei Monastyrsky.
“Our art will never accommodate to market demands, just as in the past it refused to accommodate to ideological censorship of Soviet Russia.” The event is organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and Stella Art Foundation, Moscow.
